Megan Rose appointed Managing Director for 2031 Men’s Rugby World Cup
World Rugby has appointed Megan Rose as the Managing Director for the 2031 Men’s Rugby World Cup, which will be held in the United States. Rose, a former professional tennis player and sports executive, transitions to the role from the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
During her tenure at the USTA, Rose directed major properties including the US Open Series, the Davis Cup, and the Billie Jean King Cup. She also served as the Team Leader for Team USA Olympic Tennis during the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Games.
The appointment serves as a significant operational milestone as governance structures expand ahead of the first Rugby World Cup hosted in North America. This tournament will be followed by the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2033. World Rugby CEO Alan Gilpin noted that the U.S. market represents a major growth opportunity for global broadcast, sponsorship, and participation revenues.
