Megara Municipality reports 282 animals rescued from Attica and Boeotia wildfires

The Municipality of Megara has released a report detailing the rescue of 282 animals during the devastating wildfires in Attica and Boeotia. The operation involved a massive mobilization of volunteers, veterinarians, animal welfare organizations, and private citizens.

The rescued animals included 222 pets, 14 wild animals, and 46 livestock animals. Of these, 131 have already been returned to their owners, while 91 are being placed with foster families for potential future adoption. Additionally, 11 animals were treated in clinics, and 4 fatalities were recorded.

The Megara Olympic Municipal Stadium served as the central hub for the operation, where animals were gathered, registered, and provided with necessary medical care. The municipality expressed deep gratitude to the various organizations and individuals who contributed their time and resources to ensure no fire-affected animal was left without assistance.
