Meggie Richard pledges local focus as new Duplessis MNA
Meggie Richard, the newly elected Parti québécois Member of the National Assembly for Duplessis, has announced her intention to focus on field-based representation. She plans to establish a local team and open a constituency office in the coming weeks to better serve the diverse regions within her riding, including Basse-Côte-Nord, Fermont, Anticosti, and La Minganie.
Richard identified several priority areas, including health, housing, economic development, and infrastructure. Specifically, she expressed support for the construction of a bridge over the Saguenay River. The project, estimated to cost over $4 billion, is viewed by the Parti québécois as an opportunity to develop more cost-effective methods for large-scale infrastructure projects. Additionally, she aims to improve access to primary healthcare services within the region.
