Meghalaya High Court hosts road safety law workshop

The Meghalaya State Judicial Academy and the Meghalaya Police organized a one-day workshop titled ‘The Laws Behind Road Safety: Learn the Rules, Respect the Road’ at the Meghalaya High Court. The event targeted students, legal professionals, and traffic officials to increase awareness regarding traffic regulations and responsible road use.

Speakers, including Additional SP (Traffic) Lovish Garg, discussed the balance between individual rights and the safety of other road users. The sessions covered various topics such as traffic violations, the legal consequences of non-compliance, the importance of helmets and seat belts, and the e-Challan system. Additionally, the workshop addressed road accident prevention, investigation techniques, and safe driving practices using local case studies.

The program also highlighted the integration of technology in traffic management, introducing participants to Intelligent Traffic Management Systems, CCTV, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, AI-based monitoring, and emergency response systems. An interactive quiz on traffic signs and road rules was conducted to engage participants.
