Meghalaya launches free laptop scheme for meritorious Class 10 and 12 students

The Meghalaya government announced a scheme to provide free laptops to students who passed the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The Directorate of Information Technology and Communications (DITC) will identify eligible candidates from the Meghalaya Board of School Education, the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and the Indian School Certificate.

A provisional list of meritorious students has been posted on the DITC website, and applicants must verify their eligibility by submitting marksheets, photo ID and other documents. The online registration portal is open from August 3 to September 3, and eligibility for CBSE, ICSE and ISC students is limited to schools located within Meghalaya. The initiative aims to reward academic excellence and promote digital learning, with further distribution details to be announced after verification.
