Meghalaya CM calls for communal harmony and highlights state development

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has emphasized the importance of communal harmony and secularism while addressing the centenary celebration of The Meghalaya Hindu Mission in Shillong. Sangma urged citizens to love their own communities without harboring hatred toward others, noting that every community contributes to the state’s social fabric and development.

During the event, the Chief Minister praised the Mission for its century of philanthropic work, which began in 1926 to support vulnerable populations through orphanages, schools, and vocational training. He stated that the state government’s welfare initiatives are designed to benefit all citizens regardless of their background.

In a separate development, the Meghalaya Cabinet passed a resolution expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support of the state’s development. The Chief Minister highlighted various progress markers, including the creation of over 3.2 lakh assets under MGNREGA, significant transfers to farmers via the PM-KISAN scheme, and a 57 per cent decline in maternal mortality since 2020.
