Meghalaya Minister calls for stronger media-government partnership

Meghalaya Minister Methodius Dkhar has called for enhanced cooperation between the government administration and the media to ensure that welfare benefits and information regarding centrally sponsored schemes reach intended grassroots beneficiaries.

Speaking at the PIB Varta Media Sensitisation Workshop in Nongstoin, Dkhar emphasized the need to counter misinformation and improve awareness of government initiatives. The workshop, organized by the Press Information Bureau in collaboration with the West Khasi Hills district administration, included media representatives, social media influencers, and district officials.

Dkhar also highlighted the economic potential of the West Khasi Hills district, noting that its natural resources and favorable climate could drive growth in tourism, agriculture, horticulture, and sericulture. He noted that improved road connectivity would be essential to facilitating these sectors and creating local economic opportunities.
