Meghalaya officials visit Asian Games in Japan

While no athletes from Meghalaya are competing in the ongoing Asian Games in Japan, a delegation of eight state officials is attending the event to study its operations. The group is led by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla, who serves as the ex-officio president of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association.

Other members of the delegation include the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Alertson Nongbri, MSOA working president John F Kharshiing, and general secretary Finely L Pariat, alongside technical staff from the State Sports Council. The officials have visited various venues, including sites for boxing, basketball, archery, and swimming, to interact with technical administrators.

The purpose of the visit is to gather observations and suggestions to assist the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs in preparing for the 39th National Games, which Meghalaya is expected to host next year.
