Meghalaya opens free fan park in Shillong for FIFA World Cup 2026

The Meghalaya government inaugurated the Chief Minister’s Football Fan‑Park at the SRGT Parking Lot in Shillong on June 26. The venue offers free entry and live screenings of FIFA World Cup 2026 matches on giant LED screens, creating a stadium‑like atmosphere for fans.

The fan‑park operates during fan‑friendly kick‑off times, including late‑night screenings, and features match‑day performances by local artists under the state’s grassroots music program. Officials said the initiative promotes football, supports local talent and provides a communal space as the tournament moves into its knockout stage.

The project is described as a first‑of‑its‑kind effort in the state, complementing Meghalaya’s broader plan to strengthen its sporting ecosystem, including future stadium development.
