Meghalaya publishes final electoral rolls for 2026

The Meghalaya Election Department has published the final photo electoral rolls for all 60 Assembly Constituencies following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026. The state’s total electorate is now fixed at 2,183,963, consisting of 1,059,743 males, 1,124,216 females, and four third-gender voters. This represents a net increase of 14,720 voters compared to the draft roll, though it is a significant decrease from the pre-revision figure of 2,349,645.

The revision process involved house-to-house enumeration conducted by Booth Level Officers between June 30 and July 29. During this period, 180,402 cases were categorized as absent, shifted, deceased, duplicate, or other and were subsequently excluded. Following the publication of the draft roll in August, the department issued notices to over 650,000 electors to address unmapped entries and logical discrepancies.

Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari advised citizens to verify their names via the Voters Services Portal, the official CEO Meghalaya website, or the ECINET mobile app. A special drive will be conducted across districts to facilitate the enrollment of first-time voters, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
