Meghalaya road project reaches 97 percent completion
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and PWD Minister Prestone Tynsong announced that the construction of the Rongjeng-Mangsang-Adokgre (RMA) road has reached 97 percent completion. The project, funded through the North Eastern Region Border Area Development Programme (NLCPR), is expected to be finished within 24 days of the work order issuance.
The project scope was adjusted from the original 28 km to 22 km due to funding decisions by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). While the initial approval was for 210 crore, the final administrative approval was set at 123.28 crore. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma noted that the funding was split between NLCPR and the North Eastern Council (NEC), but the Ministry of DoNER decided not to fund the project through both channels simultaneously, leading the state government to proceed with the 120 crore portion.
