Meghalaya textiles featured at Delhi Fashion Week 2026

Meghalaya’s indigenous textiles and cultural heritage were featured at Delhi Fashion Week 2026 as part of the ‘International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8’ initiative. Organized by the Delhi Fashion Club, the showcase aimed to promote the handloom traditions, artisans, and entrepreneurs of Northeast India.

The Meghalaya collection, presented by Shillong-based designer Batkyntilin Mawthoh and weaver Iaineh from the Ri-Bhoi district, focused on the use of Ryndia silk. The presentation sought to blend traditional weaving heritage with contemporary fashion to connect local craftsmanship with broader markets.

In addition to the fashion showcase, the event highlighted the cultural identities of the Khasi, Garo, and Jaintia communities. The initiative served as a platform to increase visibility for the state’s weavers and designers while fostering sustainable economic opportunities for local artisans.
