Meghalaya to publish final electoral roll on October 26

Meghalaya is scheduled to publish its final electoral roll on October 26 following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 process. Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B D R Tiwari announced that 95.35% of notice hearings have been completed.

During the revision, 2,641 electors were found ineligible for inclusion, with some failing to submit required documentation or failing to appear for hearings. The process also identified 406 duplicate entries and resulted in the removal of two foreigners in Mawsynram.

Of the 21.69 lakh electors in the draft roll, 20.86 lakh have been cleared for the final list. The Election Department processed 28,627 claims and objections, including requests for inclusion, deletion, shifting, and corrections. Following the publication, a special enrolment drive will be conducted for first-time and left-out voters.
