Meghan Markle faces security funding opposition in Australia

Meghan Markle is set to co-host the upcoming season of Junior MasterChef in Melbourne, Australia, early next year. However, her planned visit has sparked political controversy regarding the cost of her public security.

Both major political parties in the state of Victoria have refused to cover the expenses for her protection. A spokesperson for the Carroll government confirmed that the Labor Party will not fund security for the Duchess. Similarly, opposition leader Jess Wilson stated that under a Liberal or National government, not “a single cent” of Victorian taxpayers' money would be spent on security for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
