Meghna Sakore Bordikar launches awareness campaign to prevent child marriage

State Minister Meghna Sakore Bordikar has initiated the ‘Narishakti Samvad Jagar’ campaign across eight districts in the Marathwada region to address rising concerns over child marriage. The initiative comes amid severe drought conditions in the area, which have increased economic pressure on rural families, potentially leading to the marriage of underage girls due to water shortages, lack of fodder for livestock, and unemployment.

The campaign involves direct dialogue with women in districts including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dharashiv, Latur, and Beed, with upcoming sessions planned for Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded. Beyond preventing child marriage, the program aims to collect suggestions regarding water scarcity, rural employment, and social issues to present to relevant government departments and local administrations.
