MEGUMI issues warning against cyberbullying of ‘Love Joto’ cast

MEGUMI, the producer of the Netflix reality dating show ‘Love Joto’ (also known as ‘Furyo Ichizoku’), has issued an urgent plea for viewers to stop cyberbullying and sending malicious comments to the show's participants. The statement was released via Instagram stories in both Japanese and English.

The backlash follows controversial remarks made by cast members during the second season. Specifically, one participant, Kazuma Shioda, faced intense scrutiny after claiming in a flashback that he had ‘set fire to someone’ in the past. Clips and screenshots of these comments have circulated widely online, leading to a wave of criticism and harassment directed at the cast members' social media accounts.

In her statement, MEGUMI emphasized that the participants joined the program with great resolve, exposing their pasts and present selves completely. She urged the audience to respect each individual and to watch the show with kindness rather than using hurtful language.
