Mehbooba Mufti claims 14,000 youth cases were withdrawn under PDP-BJP rule
Mehbooba Mufti, President of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, claimed that approximately 14,000 cases against youth were withdrawn during the previous PDP-BJP coalition government. Speaking at an event in Srinagar, she highlighted that the alliance had taken steps toward peace and youth participation.
Mufti criticized the current government led by Omar Abdullah, questioning whether the National Conference-led administration could implement similar measures for the younger generation. She expressed concern over an atmosphere of fear in the region, alleging that young people are being restricted from expressing their views openly on social media.
Additionally, Mufti addressed challenges regarding employment, noting that individuals may be disqualified from government jobs if their ancestors were involved in militancy. She called for a collective political approach to address the mental stress and uncertainty facing the youth and urged the government to reconsider its stance to allow the younger generation to thrive without fear.
