Mehdi Hijaouy may reveal details of Pegasus operation against Pedro Sánchez
Mehdi Hijaouy, described as the technical architect of the Pegasus operation and a former leader within the Moroccan intelligence Service Action, may provide documentation regarding the surveillance of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
Hijaouy, who fled Morocco via France before being detained in Spain in September 2024 following an Interpol warrant, reportedly possesses information concerning the methods used, the targets involved, and the 2.6 gigabytes of data extracted from Sánchez’s mobile device.
Journalist Ketty Garat reports that Hijaouy is willing to release sensitive information to destabilize the Moroccan regime, citing fears for his life and the harassment of his family. While the Moroccan government has attempted to discredit him as a common criminal, Hijaouy is identified as a high-ranking figure within the Direction des Etudes et de la Documentation (DGE) intelligence agency.
