Mehmet Baykan discusses family trade legacy in Konya

Mehmet Baykan, AK Party Konya MP and former Sports Director, appeared on the ASKON Konya documentary program ‘İş’te Bir Asır’ to discuss his family’s commercial history and personal background.

Baykan detailed the life and principles of his late father, Zeki Baykan (known as Zeki Dayı), a prominent wholesaler in Konya’s historical bedesten and Aziziye Mosque area. He described his father as a natural leader and mediator who resolved disputes between merchants and customers.

Baykan emphasized his father’s ethical approach to business, which prioritized honesty, sustainability, and customer loyalty over aggressive sales tactics. He also noted that his book, ‘Zeki Dayı - Hatırda Kalanlar’, was produced as part of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s ‘İz Bırakanlar’ series.
