Mehmet Dânâ conducts high-level meetings in Brussels

Mehmet Dânâ, Undersecretary to the Presidency, held a series of high-level meetings in Brussels following an event at the UK Parliament in London. His diplomatic mission included discussions with the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (Ireland), as well as representatives from the Permanent Representations of Italy, France, and the Netherlands to the EU.

Dânâ met with officials from the European Commission, including staff from the cabinets of President Ursula von der Leyen, Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner, and Commission Vice-President for Alignment and Reforms Raffaele Fitto. He also engaged with the European External Action Service (EEAS).

The discussions focused on several key issues regarding Cyprus, including the Turkish Cypriot position, the current status of confidence-building measures, and recent visits by the UN Secretary-General. Dânâ raised concerns regarding the isolation of Turkish Cypriots, the alleged violation of EU citizenship rights for children of mixed marriages, and the process of the Republic of Cyprus joining the Schengen Area.
