Mehmet Turan İnan continues family muhtar tradition in Van

Mehmet Turan İnan is continuing a 42-year family tradition of local leadership in the Şerefiye neighborhood of the İpekyolu district in Van, Turkey. After his father, Şükrü İnan, served as the neighborhood headman (muhtar) for 42 consecutive years, Mehmet Turan İnan won the position in the 2019 elections.

Having previously served as an assistant (aza) during his father's tenure, İnan secured a second term in the 2024 elections. He continues to rely on his father's extensive experience and knowledge to manage the needs of one of the city's largest neighborhoods, focusing on infrastructure, road organization, and maintaining strong communication with local residents.
