Mehriban Aliyeva celebrates birthday amid focus on cultural diplomacy

Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, is celebrating her birthday on August 26. Since 2017, she has held the position of First Vice President, and since 2004, she has served as the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Her work through the foundation has focused on social, health, educational, and cultural sectors. A significant aspect of her international engagement involves cultural diplomacy between Azerbaijan and the Holy See. This collaboration includes the restoration and preservation of Christian heritage, such as the catacombs of Saints Marcellinus and Peter, which she personally monitored.

Additionally, Aliyeva has been active in the sports sector, serving as the President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation since 2002, contributing to the expansion of gymnastics disciplines within the country.
