MEI Festival honors The Gang and features contest winner Il Caso

The Meeting Etichette Indipendenti (MEI) festival in Faenza is highlighting significant milestones for Italian independent music. The event, which serves as a major platform for alternative and self-produced sounds, is presenting a lifetime achievement award to the band The Gang.

Founded in the late 1970s by brothers Sandro and Marino Severini, The Gang transitioned from punk rock influences to a style blending electric guitars with traditional folk elements. Their work often addresses social justice, labor struggles, and Italian history. To celebrate the award, the band is scheduled to perform alongside a popular music orchestra from Forlimpopoli.

Additionally, Gabriele Sgarbi da Sangio, performing under the name Il Caso, has been selected to perform at the festival. Sgarbi da Sangio recently won the second edition of the Sangio Incanta music contest in San Giovanni in Persiceto, a victory that secured his place on the MEI stage.
