Međimurje coldblood horses face extinction with only 60 left
The Međimurje coldblood horse, an indigenous Croatian breed, is facing extreme endangerment. It is estimated that only approximately 60 of these heavy working horses remain in the world, with only five stallions left.
In the rural village of Mali Mihaljevec, the Horvat family continues to care for these animals. Jelena Horvat, who grew up alongside the horses Grom and Zeko, describes the deep connection to the breed on their family farm. The horses represent one of the most critically endangered native animal breeds in Croatia.
