Međimurje hosts Croatian Archaeological Society scientific symposium

The Croatian Archaeological Society is hosting a scientific symposium in Međimurje titled ‘At the Crossroads of Cultures – Archaeological Panorama of Northern Croatia’. The event, running from October 5 to 9, brings together archaeologists, museum professionals, and scientists to present new research and projects focused on the heritage of northern Croatia.

During the opening ceremony at the Riznica Međimurje Multimedia Hall, Međimurje County Prefect Matija Posavec highlighted the region's rich history, citing sites such as the Roman settlement in Sveti Martin na Muri, Štrigov, and the Old Town of Čakovec. The Museum of Međimurje Čakovec, which has operated its archaeological department since 1972, currently manages over 8,000 archaeological items and oversees more than 70 recorded sites in the area.
