Međimurje Open celebrates 30 years of international karate in Čakovec

The 30th anniversary of the Međimurje Open international karate tournament took place in Čakovec, gathering 1,003 competitors from 118 clubs representing 11 different countries. Held at the Graditeljska škola Čakovec, the event served as a selection trial for Croatia’s cadet, junior, and younger senior national teams.

Davor Cipek, President of the Croatian Karate Federation, recognized the tournament’s growth and its importance to the national karate system. Special recognition was awarded to Karate klub Globus for its three decades of organizational and sporting contributions.

Among the notable achievements, the kata team from Karate klub Beli Manastir secured a silver medal in the team kata discipline, competing against strong international opponents from various European nations.
