Međimurje retirees hold fourth annual Čevapčijada culinary competition

The Matica umirovljenika Međimurske županije organized the fourth annual ‘Čevapčijada’ at the Sports and Recreation Center in Gornji Mihaljevec. This traditional gastronomic gathering brought together various retiree associations from across the Međimurje region, including participants from Mala Subotica, Gornji Mihaljevec, Strahinovec, Donji Kraljevec, Selnica, Novo Selo Roka, Belica, Mursko Središte, and Nedelišće.

A jury consisting of employees from the Prelog Secondary School evaluated the entries based on the quality and taste of the ćevapi, as well as the presentation, stall appearance, and creativity. The Retiree Association of Nedelišće secured first place, followed by the retirees of Belica in second, and the Selnica Retiree Association in third.

Nada Lovrec, president of the Matica umirovljenika Međimurske županije, emphasized the importance of social connection and positive energy during the event. The gathering was also attended by the Prefect of Međimurje, Matija Posavec, and the Mayor of Čakovec, Ljerka Cividini.
