Meiningen hosts Steam Locomotive Days

The city of Meiningen is hosting the Meiningen Steam Locomotive Days, an event expected to draw several thousand visitors. The festival features the steam locomotive works of a Deutsche Bahn subsidiary and the city’s Steam Locomotive Experience World museum.

A major highlight of the event is the ‘Adler’, a reconstruction of the first functional locomotive used in Germany, which has been brought to Meiningen from the German Railway Museum in Nuremberg. Visitors can view operational and historical rail vehicles, take guided tours through the works, participate in special excursions, and visit a model railway market.

The event is open on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00. Ticket options include combined access to both the works and the museum, as well as individual entry to the works.
