Locven wins Kobe Shimbun Hai to advance toward Triple Crown
Locven secured a narrow victory in the 74th Kobe Shimbun Hai, a Grade 2 race and key trial for the Kikuka Sho, held at Hanshin Racecourse. Ridden by Kohei Matsuyama, Locven won by a nose in a photo finish after a strong late charge.
Altramuz finished in second place, followed by Sea to Summit in third. Both Altramuz and Sea to Summit earned priority entry rights for the upcoming Kikuka Sho. The performance of Locven reinforces his position as a top contender for the Triple Crown, despite the close margin of victory.
Observers noted that while Locven won without appearing to exert maximum effort, his ability to overcome opponents while running wide on the track suggests significant potential for the next stage of the classic series.
