Meissnitzer Band celebrates 30 years of musical career
The Meissnitzer Band is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of evolution from a musical support act for alpine skier Alexandra Meissnitzer into a prominent fixture of Austrian dialect music.
Since their first performance as ‘Meisi Musi’ in Marburg, Slovenia, in January 1996, the group has performed approximately 1,500 live shows. Their career includes playing at six World Championships and two Winter Olympics. The band transitioned into a cover band for various events in 1999 before developing their own musical identity, releasing their first original songs in 2001 and 2002.
Frontwoman Christiane Meissnitzer-Gsenger notes that the band has achieved gold and double platinum awards and has produced nearly 200 original compositions. Their first major radio success, ‘S’Leben is a Hit’, arrived in 2003, coinciding with their emergence as an independent musical formation.
