Meknes hosts third Hamadcha National Festival
The third edition of the Hamadcha National Festival has commenced in Meknes, Morocco, held at the Sidi Ali center near the Maghasiyyin commune. Organized by the Sidi Ali Association for Empowerment and Education in coordination with the Hamadouchia Zawiya, the event runs from August 28 to 30, 2026.
Under the theme ‘Hamadcha: A Living Memory and Renewed Spiritual Heritage,’ the festival features a diverse program of religious, cultural, and artistic activities. This includes Sufi musical performances, Quranic recitations, spiritual chants, and traditional arts such as Aissawa, Madih, and Ahidous. Participants and troupes are traveling from various regions, including Fes, Asilah, Taroudant, and Kalaat Seraghna.
Festival organizers and leaders, including Rashid Jamal Al-Hamdouchi and Yassin Al-Hamdouchi, emphasized the importance of preserving Moroccan spiritual heritage and passing its values to younger generations. The program also includes a local Quran memorization competition, a seminar discussing the history of the Hamadouchia order, and a tribute to the late Haj Mohammed bin Dahman Al-Barashdi for his contributions to preserving Hamadcha heritage.
