Mekong Delta residents prepare for annual flood season

In the upstream areas of the Mekong Delta, specifically in Dong Thap province, residents are preparing for the arrival of the annual flood season. In locations such as Thuong Lac and Hong Ngu wards, fields remain dry as the summer-autumn rice harvest concludes and local authorities have not yet released floodwaters.

Local fishermen are actively preparing for the seasonal shift. For example, in the So Thuong River area, residents are repairing nets and preparing equipment to catch high-value species like loach, which can fetch between 120,000 and 170,000 VND per kilogram depending on the season. While there is anticipation regarding the potential abundance of aquatic resources this year, the exact timing of the flood depends on the rising water levels.
