Mel Gibson provides update on ‘The Resurrection of the Christ’

Director Mel Gibson is currently in post-production for his upcoming project, ‘The Resurrection of the Christ’, a follow-up to his 2004 film ‘The Passion of the Christ’. The project is being edited and completed in Canada.

The production is divided into two films, with the first part scheduled for theatrical release on May 6, 2027. Gibson has described the work as an ‘imagining’ of the biblical narrative that aims to capture the essence of the story without deviating from the truth.

Gibson noted that the project has been nearly twenty years in the making, with ten years dedicated specifically to writing. He intends to focus on the theological significance of the resurrection, moving beyond the events of the crucifixion to explore the period following Christ's death.
