MeLa agricultural fair reaches near-record attendance in Mühlengeez
The 35th anniversary of the MeLa agricultural fair in Mühlengeez has reached significant attendance levels, according to Agriculture Minister Dr. Till Backhaus. The four-day event saw approximately 25,000 visitors on a single Saturday, with total attendance expected to approach 70,000.
Backhaus noted that this edition is among the most successful since 1991, matching record numbers seen before the pandemic. The fair features the largest livestock show in northeastern Germany, alongside presentations of modern agricultural technology and regional culinary products.
The Minister emphasized that the fair reflects the importance of rural areas, stating that investments in these regions over the last 35 years have proven worthwhile. He also highlighted the continued attractiveness of agricultural professions for young people, noting that modern farming involves digitalization and climate adaptation.
