Melaka Chief Minister experiences life as a food delivery rider

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh recently participated in a food delivery session to experience the realities and challenges faced by p-hailing workers in the digital economy. Dressed as a delivery rider, he spent approximately one and a half hours picking up and delivering orders in the Masjid Tanah area, including Pengkalan Balak and Masjid Tanah town.

Following this experience, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of supporting gig workers. He noted that the state government has provided a dedicated rest area for riders at Masjid Tanah Sentral and expressed intentions to improve the facility with amenities such as fans.

Additionally, the Melaka state government is planning further initiatives to assist the sector, including motorcycle maintenance subsidies intended to benefit more than 3,000 delivery workers across the state.
