Melaka concludes 'Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat' community program

The Melaka state government has concluded its 'Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat' (WRUR) program, which spanned all 28 state constituencies. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh stated that while the specific program has ended, the government remains committed to being accessible to the people.

Over the two-year implementation period, the program organized 1,981 activities and reached nearly 100,000 citizens. More than 5,000 complaints were received through the initiative, with 71 percent already resolved and the remainder undergoing follow-up action. Additionally, 2,300 individuals received direct assistance through the Social Welfare Department (JKM), totaling RM345,000.

The program's conclusion coincided with the Tanjung Bidara Beach Festival and the launch of the Melaka Straits and River Arts Festival 2026. Related recreational events included the Tanjung Bidara Surfcasting Challenge 2026, which attracted 1,140 participants, highlighting the region's potential for sports and recreational tourism.
