Melaka to expand Kampung Digital 2.0 initiative statewide

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh has announced the expansion of the ‘Kampung Digital 2.0’ initiative across the state. The program aims to modernize social management by transitioning conventional villages into digital hubs. The rollout is planned to begin with non-traditional villages between October and December 2026, with a phased implementation for the rest of the state scheduled from 2027 to 2030.

Key challenges to the expansion include the need for standardized address formats. Currently, discrepancies in numbering systems and lot numbers used by local authorities can cause confusion in location verification, affecting the efficiency of service delivery. The initiative seeks to unify these formats, including geocode coordinates, to improve safety navigation and commercial logistics.

In related state news, the Chief Minister also promoted the upcoming Melaka Youth Carnival 2026, scheduled for September 4–6 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC). The event will feature various activities, including motorcycle gatherings and career workshops, with limited edition helmets offered as prizes.
