Melania Rea family expresses anger over killer's potential release

Fourteen years after the brutal murder of 29-year-old Melania Rea, her father, Gennaro Rea, has expressed profound anger regarding the potential upcoming release of her killer, Salvatore Parolisi.

In 2011, Parolisi, an army soldier, killed Rea with 35 knife wounds in a forest near Teramo. The case gained significant media attention in Italy as one of the first high-profile femicide incidents. Gennaro Rea stated that the killer could be released from prison in two years, a prospect he described as driving him to madness because the perpetrator will be able to start a new life while his daughter is gone.

He further characterized Parolisi as a stranger to his daughter and noted a debt of one million euros owed to her. The family continues to seek justice and maintain Melania's memory as a symbol in the fight against femicide.
