Melania Trump announces White House women's health initiative

First Lady Melania Trump announced a new White House initiative to promote women's health during an appearance at the Rose Garden. The initiative, established via executive order by President Trump, includes the creation of a new Women's Health Division within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a new White House women's health task force.

Officials stated that the new division is intended to collaborate with the existing Office of Research on Women's Health, which was established in 1990. However, it remains unclear if the administration will allocate new funding to the division, and some advocates suggest the executive order may lack impact without additional Congressional funding.

The announcement comes two weeks before midterm elections, amid polling showing limited support for the President and the Republican Party among American women. This move follows previous administration decisions to reduce funding for the long-running Women's Health Initiative.
