Melania Trump to lead new Amazon Prime docuseries after flop
Senior adviser Marc Beckman announced on Real America's Voice that a new documentary series about U.S. First Lady Melania Trump will debut on Amazon Prime in the fall of 2026. The series will follow Melania at the start of President Donald Trump's second term and aim to show her private life and philanthropic work.
The announcement follows the commercial and critical failure of the earlier documentary "Melania," produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon paid $40 million for the rights and spent $35 million on marketing, while the film earned only $16.6 million worldwide against a $75 million budget, resulting in a substantial loss. About $28 million of the proceeds went directly to the former First Lady, and a U.S. Office of Government Ethics report showed the Trump family earned $10.71 million from the licensing deal.
The film, directed by Brett Ratner, was widely panned and drew scrutiny from U.S. lawmakers over possible violations of federal anti‑bribery laws. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos defended the investment as a sound business decision and denied any partisan motive.
