Melanie Lynskey to star in Mushroom Murders drama

Actress Melanie Lynskey has been cast to star as Erin Patterson in ‘Mushroom Murders: There’s More to Unearth’, a six-part limited series commissioned by Paramount+. Lynskey will also serve as an executive producer on the production.

The series is based on the notorious 2023 Leongatha mushroom poisoning case in Victoria, Australia. It will depict the 97-day period between a fatal lunch involving toxic death cap mushrooms and Patterson’s subsequent arrest. The case resulted in the deaths of Don and Gail Patterson, as well as Heather Wilkinson, while Ian Wilkinson survived.

Created by Anya Beyersdorf, Daina Reid, and Deb Balderstone, the series will be directed by Reid and produced by Soapbox Pictures. The production is expected to film on location in Victoria, with a scheduled release on Paramount+ in 2027.
