Melanie Walters to compete in Strictly Come Dancing

Actress Melanie Walters, widely recognized for her role as Gwen West in the BBC comedy ‘Gavin & Stacey’, is joining the 24th series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. The 64-year-old Welsh performer expressed apprehension about the transition to reality television, describing the experience of appearing as herself rather than a character as ‘absolutely terrifying’.

Walters, who has experience in stage musicals and pantomimes, noted that she lacks formal dance training. She intends to use the opportunity to push her boundaries and learn professional dance skills alongside her partner, Aljaž Škorjanec.

The new series of the BBC program features a refreshed hosting lineup including Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe, following the departures of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly. Walters joins a contestant roster that includes Dani Dyer, Delta Goodrem, and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
