Melbourne Airport closes departures ramp, opens new T123 Transport Hub
Melbourne Airport has officially closed its 56-year-old departures ramp, shifting all pick-up and drop-off services for Terminals 1, 2, and 3 to the new MEL T123 Transport Hub. The change, which took effect on October 6, 2026, follows the completion of the $500 million Naarm Way project.
Drivers must now exit the Tullamarine Freeway at Exit 19 (Naarm Way) to access the new hub. The facility is located within the airport’s undercover car park and is connected to the terminals via a skybridge. While the new system aims to reduce congestion and facilitate future international terminal expansion, travelers will now face walking distances of between 172 and 380 meters to reach terminals or pick-up zones.
To assist passengers with mobility needs, the Melbourne Airport Assist program has extended its services to the T123 hub, providing buggies and powered wheelchairs. Regarding parking, the new pick-up zone offers free parking for the first five minutes.
