Melbourne carjacker killed in multi-vehicle crash

A 46-year-old man from Melton was killed following a series of high-speed collisions in Melbourne’s east on Saturday night. The incident began when the man allegedly stole a white Subaru from Glen Iris, which was reportedly driving erratically on the wrong side of the road near the MCG in Richmond.

After the Subaru crashed into two vehicles near Punt Road and Boulton Parade, the man reportedly exited the vehicle and carjacked a Ford Mustang. He continued driving erratically before crashing head-on with a Range Rover and a Toyota Camry on Barassi Way in East Melbourne. The impact ejected the man from the Mustang, resulting in his death.

A woman driving the Range Rover was hospitalized with arm injuries, while other motorists involved were not injured. Police have closed Brunton Avenue to process the scene and are seeking witnesses or dashcam footage regarding the erratic driving observed prior to the collisions.
