Melbourne City extends Nabbout, adds goalkeeper Macklin Freke
Melbourne City announced that 32‑year‑old forward Andrew Nabbout has signed a one‑year contract extension, keeping him at the club for a seventh season. Nabbout, who ranks seventh on the club's all‑time appearance list with 115 games and 18 goals, helped the team win three Premierships and two Championships. Director of Football Michael Petrillo said Nabbout brings “a wealth of experience and a winning mentality”.
The club also secured experienced goalkeeper Macklin Freke on a two‑year deal after his departure from Brisbane Roar, where he made 75 appearances and earned the 2024/25 Player of the Year award. Freke, 27, will compete with James Nieuwenhuizen and Lachie Charles for the No. 1 spot and is praised for his ball‑playing ability and composure. Petrillo added that Freke’s experience will strengthen the defensive unit ahead of the 2026/27 A‑League campaign.
