Melbourne City signs Brazilian midfielder Matheus Rossetto on loan
Melbourne City FC has added Brazilian midfielder Matheus Rossetto on a season‑long loan from Fortaleza ahead of the 2026/27 A‑League campaign. The 30‑year‑old has made more than 200 senior appearances, beginning at Athletico Paranaense where he helped win the Copa Sudamericana and Copa do Brasil, before moving to MLS side Atlanta United and logging nearly 100 games over four seasons. After returning to Brazil with Fortaleza, Rossetto joins Aurelio Vidmar’s squad, offering versatility across central and deeper midfield roles.
Rossetto said he was “very happy to be joining Melbourne City” and looks forward to contributing to the team’s ambitions. Melbourne City Director of Football Michael Petrillo praised his “football intelligence, ability to read the game and professionalism,” saying the signing will benefit younger players and add composure to the midfield.
