Melbourne defence firm Lovitt Technologies attack investigated as terrorism
Australian authorities are investigating a July 5, 2025 arson and vandalism attack on Lovitt Technologies, a defence manufacturer in Melbourne’s northeast suburbs. Several vehicles were set alight and the premises damaged.
The Australian Federal Police, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation and Victoria Police, operating through the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team, say the incident is being treated as a terrorist act, possibly carried out by far‑left extremists. A masked individual posted an online video claiming responsibility, expressing support for Palestine and alleging the target was chosen because Lovitt supplies components for the U.S.‑led F‑35 Joint Strike Fighter programme used by the Israeli military. The agencies warned that those convicted could face life imprisonment.
