Melbourne rail infrastructure sees Melton Station opening and Boronia Station upgrades
New rail infrastructure projects have been completed or launched in Melbourne, Victoria. The Melton Station has officially opened, providing new facilities such as lift and stair access to platforms, a 16-metre-wide pedestrian link, and new ticket machines. While the station upgrade is welcomed, local commuters and the LeadWest alliance are calling for increased train frequency and long-term investment to match the rapid population growth in Melbourne’s west.
In Melbourne’s outer east, upgrades to Boronia Station on the Belgrave line are also complete. The project focused on safety and accessibility, featuring a new landscaped plaza, expanded concourse, improved lighting, and CCTV cameras. The station now includes enhanced amenities such as new toilets, shelters, and a waiting room, alongside improved pedestrian and cyclist access through new footpaths and shared zones.
