Melbourne secures Maurie Plant Meet athletics through 2029

The Maurie Plant Meet Melbourne has been secured to continue at Lakeside Stadium for the years 2027, 2028, and 2029. Announced by Victorian Minister Steve Dimopoulos and Australian Athletics CEO Simon Hollingsworth, the event remains the only World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meet in Oceania.

In conjunction with these athletics developments, Visit Victoria has launched a new spring tourism campaign highlighting Melbourne’s extensive sporting calendar. The campaign aims to promote the city as a premier destination for major events, including the AFL Finals, NFL Melbourne Game, Melbourne Cup Carnival, Australian Open, and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
