Melbourne Stars bolster squad for WBBL 12
The Melbourne Stars have made several key roster moves ahead of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 12 season. Former Australian captain Meg Lanning will return to lead the franchise, taking over the captaincy from Annabel Sutherland. Lanning noted the decision was made to ensure the squad performs at its best, while Sutherland will remain a significant part of the leadership group.
To strengthen their batting lineup, the Stars have signed veteran top-order batter Naomi Stalenberg. With 139 WBBL appearances and over 1,600 runs, the 32-year-old brings extensive T20 experience to the team. Stalenberg recently participated in the Stars' T20 Spring Challenge, providing an early look at her striking ability.
In separate news, the Sydney Sixers have adjusted their squad following Maddy Darke being ruled out for the entire season due to a stress fracture. The club has named ACT wicketkeeper Grace Lyons as her replacement to provide both keeping cover and batting depth.
